Recap:

JAMESTOWN, NY- The Findlay Grrrowl could not salvage a series split late in the game Saturday and continued to allow goals in bunches as the Grrrowl fell 8-5 to the Jamestown Jets after a similar outcome and final score of 9-5 in Game 1 on Friday. 

With the game tied 5-5 with just five minutes remaining in the third period, the Jets took advantage of a tired Findlay lineup and finished with three easy scores to seal the win. 

The Grrrowl suffered a pair of injuries and served costly penalty box minutes, including one ejection, which consequently shrunk the Grrrowl bench for most of the second and third periods. 

Defenseman Chris Clark left the game after receiving a puck to the face and Mike Balogh suffered a minor concussion. With the injuries and penalty minutes the Grrrowl was forced to continue without three key defensemen for remainder of the game. 

Despite the obvious setbacks however, the Grrrowl kept it close and nearly positioned itself late in the game to ground the confident Jets and pull off the upset. 

On Friday the Grrrowl stumbled early and could not control the Jets’ offensive attack despite Louis Morin’s 43 saves in the losing effort. 

Key contributors for the Grrrowl were Mike Shanahan, Adam Gillikan and Chris Gendron who each had two goals and three assists in the series. 

Defense continues to stranglehold the Grrrowl of late, after allowing 17 goals in the series and 29 in the last three games. The Grrrowl has been outscored 29-15 in that stretch after two straight wins and winning three out of its last five games and outscoring its opponents 23-16.
