Recap:
The Findlay Grrrowl rallied from behind to tie late in Game 1 Friday and held a commanding lead throughout Saturday’s Game 2, but the team still could not find a way to bring home a win over the weekend against the first-place Jamestown Jets.
Although it was a chilly fall weekend, the host Jets brought the heat all weekend and executed when it mattered most- late in the game, specifically in the third period, which continues to be a problem for the Grrrowl.
On Friday, the Grrrowl, down 3-1 entering the third period, rallied to tie the game at three before stumbling late in the period. The Jets scored three quick goals and did not look back, winning by a score of 6-3.
The Grrrowl bounced back in Saturday’s game and held a commanding 5-1 lead heading into the third period, but it wouldn’t be enough to hold off the Jets, whose late offensive surge led to a Grrrowl meltdown of the lead and a 6-6 draw.
Key performers for the Grrrowl were Derek Sulpezio and Zach Bachnak, who each scored twice, and Jeff Sherer who had three assists.
The Grrrowl, 2-3-1, will look to bounce back this weekend as it faces off against the Philadelphia Thunder in Philadelphia before returning home for its home opener Oct. 17.
