Recap:
WOOSTER- The Findlay Grrrowl failed to close the series with archrival Wooster Oilers and were dominated by a final score of 12-5 Wednesday in the second of two high-scoring games at Alice Noble Ice Arena.
For the second consecutive night the Oilers jumped ahead early but let the Grrrowl slip back in the game. Trailing 6-1 early in the second period the Grrrowl scored three goals within a 1:30 span.
However with the Oiler lead cut down to 6-4 the momentum subsided almost immediately.
Plagued by penalties, the Grrrowl were outscored 6-3 in the second. They trailed 9-4 going into the third and could not escape the deepening deficit.
With Wednesday’s loss, the Grrrowl (10-10-4) fail to leapfrog the Oilers for second place in the UJHL South Division. They have split five of their last six series, having only swept its opponent once this season.
Zach Bachnak had two goals and two assists to power the Grrrowl to a 6-3 win over the Oilers on Tuesday.
The Oilers jumped ahead early with two scores in the first five minutes of the game but were thereafter outpaced by the Grrrowl who scored five unanswered goals that stretched into the third period.
The Oilers could not account for Bachnak who was involved in four of the Grrrowl's six scores and seemed virtually everywhere on the ice. Grrrowl goaltender Chad Karns had 44 saves in the contest.
Bachnak had two goals and three assists and Josh Tucker had two and two to lead the Grrrowl in the series. Brock Donnelly also had a score and three assists.
